What Are You Looking Forward to in 2026?

Summary
Important Events for the New Year.

In my desire to plan ahead, I'm already looking forward to the new year and for ways to enjoy each new day and month. Part of planning is also remembering:  if I don't write it down, I'm afraid I'll forget. So, I wrote this 12-month list of things I want to remember, highlight, and celebrate:

  • January: Making it to another birthday!
  • February: My son will celebrate a special birthday - his 50th!
  • March: National Developmental Disabilities Awareness Month
  • April: World Autism Acceptance Day
  • May: Mental Health Awareness Month
  • June: Alzheimer's and Brain Awareness Month
  • July: The ADA 36th Anniversary; The ADA Symposium; Disability Pride Month
  • August: International Assistance Dog Week
  • September: World Alzheimer's Month
  • October: National Disability Employment Awareness Month
  • November: Epilepsy Awareness Month; Diabetes Awareness Month; Thanksgiving
  • December: International Day of Persons with Disabilities; Festive Holidays!

Of course, there are many, many other special and important dates to celebrate. And everyone has their own personal dates that are important to them. Here is a 2026 Disability Calendar to help you prepare for this year's upcoming related celebrations:  Disability Solutions | Disability & Diversity Calendar

Happy New Year!
